Through the Liquorland banner, our Coles Liquor team work to bring the drinks our customers want, when and how they want them. With a network of more than 900 stores and ultra-convenient online sites, the team deliver on our commitment to provide accessible drink solutions for every occasion.
About the role
At Coles Liquor, we’re on a mission to deliver better value, better experiences, and better outcomes for our customers and suppliers. As we continue to invest in growth and commercial excellence across Liquorland, we’re looking for a highly capable Commercial Manager to lead some of our most critical commercial programs of work.
In this role, you’ll work cross‑functionally to drive strategic commercial initiatives, uplift category performance, strengthen supplier partnerships and improve data, pricing, value and process integrity across the business. You’ll partner closely with Business Category Managers (BCMs), senior leaders and key stakeholders to turn complex insights into action and shape the future of our commercial operations.
You will also:

Lead and deliver our Joint Business Plans (JBPs), Category Planning processes, COGs initiatives and commercial value programs

Own end‑to‑end execution of key commercial and strategic projects, identifying risks, opportunities and improvement areas

Drive data integrity and integration (Apollo SAP) to support accurate, actionable insights

Influence and engage widely across senior stakeholders including Commercial, Operations, Customer, eCommerce, Finance and Supply Chain teams
-
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships that support category growth and commercial outcomes

Manage and develop a high‑performing team, fostering collaboration, governance and a strong compliance culture

Support delivery of annual sales, profitability and 3‑year horizon budgets
You’re an experienced commercial leader who thrives in a fast‑paced FMCG environment and brings a powerful blend of strategic thinking, stakeholder influence and hands‑on delivery. You can navigate complexity, shape commercial decisions, and lead with confidence and clarity.
You’ll also ideally have:

Category Management experience, ideally including Joint Business Planning, Category Planning and cost price negotiation

Proven team leadership, with experience coaching and developing direct reports

High levels of impact and influence, with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders

Strong analytical capability and commercial acumen, with experience translating insights into strategy

Project or change management experience in a retail or liquor environment

Intermediate Excel skills and confidence working with commercial systems and data platforms

Exceptional communication, presentation and relationship‑building skills
