The Role
Lead the management of Yarra Valley Water’s land and property portfolio and help shape the future of our communities.
As Manager, Property Services you will drive strategic outcomes, maximise the value of land assets, and support service delivery, infrastructure investment, environmental stewardship and community partnerships.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of Yarra Valley Water’s Property Strategy and land portfolio plan, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities, asset management objectives, long-term capital planning, service delivery needs, regulatory requirements, and climate resilience goals.

Provide strategic and commercial leadership for the acquisition, divestment and management of Yarra Valley Water’s land, easements and property interests, ensuring alignment with the property holding strategic plan and organisational objectives. Lead complex property transactions, compulsory acquisition and compensation processes, stakeholder enquiries, and engagement with government agencies on land tax and other property-related matters, while ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements

Oversee the effective management of Yarra Valley Water’s property portfolio, including leases, licences, land use agreements and land access arrangements required for operational and capital projects. Support the timely delivery of capital and maintenance programs and drive cost efficiencies through proactive property lifecycle management to maximise business value.

Lead and develop a high-performing Property Services team, strengthening property data, records management and reporting capabilities. Partner with key business units to support long-term asset planning and represent the Property function in strategic planning and investment forums, ensuring land and property considerations are integrated into decision-making.
What we’re Looking for

Mandatory: Extensive property experience within a large and complex public sector environment.

Strong expertise in land acquisition, property development, land sales, leasing and licensing.

Sound knowledge of property legislation, regulations and government policy.

Experience leading complex property transactions, including compulsory acquisitions.

Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Ability to build productive relationships with landowners, government agencies and community stakeholders.

Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to navigate complexity and change.

Proven leadership experience, including leading and developing high-performing teams.

Tertiary qualifications in Property Management or a related discipline (highly regarded).
