About the Role
Riviera Australia are on the lookout for a hard-working and loyal person, to join our talented team, as a Boat Builder (Lamination - Marine Tradesperson). The successful candidate will possess high attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and a passion for continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will also have:
- Extensive experience in the Lamination Industry including a relevant trade qualification.
- Experience in Resin Infusion processes and implementing advanced composite technologies
- Extensive experience in operating a Gelcoater and/or Chopper Gun
- Extensive experience in gelcoat repairs, sanding, buffing and polishing
- Experience in all aspects of detailing and buffing
- Excellent hand tool skills and machinery experience
- Demonstrated ability to work to strict deadlines and meet targets
- Flexibility to move within lamination areas and multi task
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well within a team environment
- Strong eye for detail with a focus on accuracy and quality first time
- Self motivated, with a positive attitude, and pride in workmanship
Lamination: Open Moulding
- Read and interpreting drawings
- Prepare moulds, including applying release agents.
- Gelcoat taping and assembling additional parts and preparing moulds
- Laminate fiberglass components to a lamination schedule (flybridges, hardtops, hulls, decks and small parts)
- Perform in-line inspections to minimise quality issues, gel coat imperfections, and air voids
- Install structural materials such as wood, aluminum flat bar, foam and core mat,
- Handle hazardous chemicals such as catalyst, resin, gel coat and structural adhesives and maintaining the shed in a clean and tidy manner, including organizing tools and materials in order to avoid any safety issues.
Lamination: Closed Moulding
- Read and interpret drawings
- Mould care, prep, upkeep and repair activities
- Inspect, clean and assemble moulds
- Laminate fiberglass components to a lamination schedule (flybridges, hardtops, and small parts)
- Pack pre-cut digital kitted composite fabrics into moulds
- Install vacuums and feed lines, and apply vacuum bags
- De-mould parts
- Perform in-line inspections to minimise quality issues, gel coat imperfections, and air voids
