Female Disability Support Worker, Glenmore Park (Penrith area)
About the role
We are seeking experienced, compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide 1:1 in-home support to a woman living with an advanced progressive neurological condition in Western Sydney. This is an ongoing role with regular shifts available across the week.
About the participant
The participant has complex care needs due to a progressive condition affecting their movement, swallowing, and cognition, and is at high risk of falls. They are supported by a multidisciplinary clinical team and have a clear care plan in place. They value consistency, respectful communication, and a calm, patient approach. Their family is closely involved in their care.
Key responsibilities
- Personal care, including showering, toileting, dressing, and grooming
- Safe mobility and transfer assistance using prescribed equipment (training provided)
- Mealtime supervision and assistance, following a clinical Mealtime Management Plan including modified food texture and thickened fluids
- Medication prompts and administration as per care plan
- Falls prevention and safe supervision
- Community access support, including appointments, shopping, and social activities
- Light domestic assistance
- Clear documentation and communication with the family and clinical team
Essential criteria
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or Aged Care (or equivalent)
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Manual handling training
- Experience supporting people with complex care needs
- Experience with dysphagia and mealtime management
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to regular shifts
- Driver's licence and reliable vehicle (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting clients with movement disorders
- Experience with transfer equipment and tilt-in-space wheelchairs
- Certificate IV in Disability or higher
