WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

About the Team

The assembly team consist of Mechanics, Electricians, Production Workers and Trade Assistants al working together to build essential parts of the vehicle. The Assembly Team forms part of the greater Production team, which includes Painters, Welders, the Prototype Shop, the Armour Shop and the Logistic Systems team.

About the Role

The Team Lead will be responsible for the daily supervision of the workforce and the tasks to be completed in the relevant workshops including the operations of Pre-assembly, Assembly, Commissioning, Testing and Acceptance for Mission Modules.

The general and generic duties of the team lead include, but are not limited to:

Lead assembly tasks for the L400 Phase 2 Boxer vehicles and other vehicles in accordance with Manufacturing Instructions, Engineering Drawings, Quality Standards, and WH&S requirements;
Support the training and mentoring of the production team;
Rework assembly tasks include fitting protection plates, brackets and electronic subassemblies/ cables/ labels;
Support the Production Manager with staff management to ensure that they are appropriately motivated, trained and can carry out their responsibilities to the required standard;
Assess the overall status of the tasks for the workshop, including how much work is involved, identifying and highlight issues (bottlenecks, showstoppers) on a daily basis and provide a report update to the Production Manager;
Ensure that build quality adheres to the required technical standards. Manage the completion of quality documentation for the work area;
Lead and coordinate the Assembly area tasks and ensure the satisfactory completion of all activities in accordance with the production plan and in compliance with the safety and quality requirements;
Provide ongoing supervision for the team by managing personnel systems including time recording, leave, and performance management.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

A relevant trade qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Vehicle, Defence, or other heavy vehicle industry role.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisor or foreman position in heavy Vehicle Production or maintenance.
Demonstrated ability to interpret, technical drawings, work instructions and specifications.
Experience in setting up and maintaining an Assembly Workshop in accordance with detailed technical standards and industry best practices.
Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
