In light of our growth and continuous expansion, we're excited to announce two (2) opening for Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team at Empower Plus Care Bendigo and Melbourne office on a casual basis. This role is ideal for individuals keen to leverage their skills in a dynamic environment and contribute to our mission of improving client well-being. About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a motivated, compassionate and highly experienced and organised Occupational Therapist with excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
The purpose of this role is to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions to help clients maintain or improve their independence, safety, health, and quality of life. responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic interventions that support older people to maintain or improve their independence, safety, and quality of life. The role involves working collaboratively with clients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver person-centred care in accordance with organisational policies and relevant legislation.
You will possess the drive to make a difference and be passionate about providing high-quality occupational therapy services to older populations with an enthusiastic approach.
You will have demonstrated skills and experience and the ability to work independently and under minimal external supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Assessment and Intervention
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for clients in community settings.
- Assess functional capacity, mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), cognition, and environmental risks.
- Develop, implement, and review individualised therapy and care plans.
- Provide recommendations to enhance client independence, safety, and wellbeing.
- Prescribe and recommend appropriate assistive technology and equipment.
- Conduct home safety assessments and recommend modifications where required.
- Monitor client progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
Care Coordination and Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with case managers, support workers, physiotherapists, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings.
- Provide education and support to clients, families, carers, and staff regarding therapy interventions and equipment use.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and reports.
- Ensure compliance with Aged Care & NDIS Quality Standards, organisational policies, and professional practice requirements.
- Complete funding-related assessments and documentation where applicable.
- Maintain client confidentiality and privacy in accordance with legislation.
Quality Improvement
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
- Contribute to the development and review of clinical policies and procedures.
- Stay current with evidence-based practice and professional development requirements.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of ageing, chronic disease management, and rehabilitation principles.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and home modification practices.
- Excellent assessment, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound computer and documentation skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an OT
- Experience working in aged care, community care, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check (where required).
- Current Working with Children Check (where required).
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
