About the role
Join our Microbiology team as a Medical Scientist (MeS-1) and begin an exciting career journey in a dynamic diagnostic laboratory environment. This role provides the opportunity to apply your scientific knowledge and technical skills while contributing to the delivery of accurate, reliable and high-quality pathology services that support patient care. Under appropriate guidance and supervision, you will perform a range of routine microbiology diagnostic techniques, participate in the testing process from planning through to reporting, and develop your expertise in laboratory practices, quality processes and scientific methodologies.
As an important member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside experienced scientists, technical staff and medical professionals to support the delivery of exceptional laboratory services. You will have opportunities to build your professional capability through competency-based training, contribute to teaching and research activities, and assist with the development and implementation of new techniques and approaches. About you
You are an enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Scientist with a passion for diagnostic microbiology and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality pathology services. You will bring a strong foundation in laboratory science, a willingness to learn and develop your skills, and a collaborative approach to supporting a positive and professional team environment.
Qualified and developing scientist – You hold an appropriate Medical Science qualification recognised under NPAAC requirements and have an understanding of diagnostic microbiology, infectious diseases and general pathology laboratory practices.
Quality focused and technically capable – You have the ability to perform routine diagnostic testing, follow laboratory procedures, operate and troubleshoot equipment, apply scientific principles and contribute to the delivery of accurate and reliable results.
Organised and proactive team member – You can prioritise workloads, manage time effectively, work with increasing independence, identify potential issues and use initiative while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary laboratory team.
Effective communicator with a commitment to service – You demonstrate strong communication skills, maintain confidentiality, provide professional customer service and build positive working relationships with scientific, technical and clinical colleagues.
