We are growing Asian food importer and distributor. Currently we are seeking to appoint a hand-on candidate to manage the daily operations of our retail store located in Cairns.
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operations of the warehouse and ensure that the business is running smoothly. This role will include providing back-up for other roles in the store and warehouse as required including the store assistants, storeperson and delivery driver.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Business Development
- Seek new customer accounts and new business opportunities according to the company’s direction and target
- Update knowledge of company’s and other competitors' products to remain competitive
Inventory and stock control
- Update stock movement, record goods receipt and transfer;
- Liaise with purchasing and shipping department to coordinate receiving schedule and space for indent container and local supply
- Maintain safety stock level
- Ensure all receiving goods are properly checked and all documentation are completed
- Record any damage and returned stocks
- Identify and monitor near expiring products promptly
- Assist in the preparation and execution of cycle counts and stock take report
Team Management
- To be involved in the recruiting of staff
- To train, develop and mentor staff members
- Provide feedback of the team and report business issues to the management
- Address and resolve operational and staff issues
- Manage rostering and staffing requirements of the store
Cash Register and Payment handling
- Process sales through scanner and cash register accurately and promptly
- Manage and count the till daily
- Daily cash and bank reconciliation
- Receive and verify payment from delivery drivers returning from their daily runs
Customer Service
- Provide customer service courteously and efficiently
- Assist with phone orders and telephone or customer inquiries related to the company’s products, pricing and services
- Resolve customer complaints according to the company’s policy and procedures
- Ensure customer orders are input and invoiced correctly, picked and printed, and delivered on time
- Processing any returns and exchanges according to the company procedures
- Communicate all ‘out of stock’ items to customers
Back up Delivery Driving
- Deliver goods to and from customers and suppliers as required
- Collect payment, receipt for goods delivered or picked up
Other ad hoc projects and duties assigned by the management.
Skills Required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role.
- Excellent English and Chinese communication skills.
- Strong Customer Service skills
- Good relationship building skills
- Cash handling experiences
- Sound numerical skills
- Energetic, driven and proactive
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office skills.
- Exposure to the food industry is desirable, but not essential.
- Have a valid driver’s licence
