Taldumande Youth Services (TYS) has been standing alongside young people experiencing homelessness and complex disadvantage for more than 50 years. Our SHS programs provide young people aged 12–24 with crisis, medium-term and transitional housing, alongside the casework support they need to find stability and move forward. The work is real, the need is significant, and the teams who do it are exceptional.
We are looking for a skilled caseworker with at least three years of SHS or community services experience who is ready to step into a coordination role and lead with confidence.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Program Manager – Housing and Community Education, you will lead a team of community-based caseworkers and provide formal line management to a Senior Youth Worker who runs the residential team and manages rostering. You will also oversee a significant portfolio of community housing properties in partnership with local Community Housing Providers.
This is a genuinely varied and substantial coordination role. No two days look the same.
If you thrive on variety, lead well through others and care deeply about the quality-of-service young people receive, this role is for you.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
-
Provide formal supervision to community-based caseworkers and to the Senior Youth Worker, who in turn leads the residential Youth Worker team and manages the residential roster.
- Oversee the screening, assessment, case planning, service coordination and case closure across the team's caseload.
- Ensure trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally safe practice is embedded across both teams.
- Manage a significant community housing portfolio in partnership with Community Housing Providers — including property maintenance, tenancy matters and CHP relationships.
- Support frontline staff through complex client situations and escalate significant risk or practice matters to the Program Manager.
- Ensure accurate data collection, CIMS reporting and client file management across the team.
- Participate in the TYS on call roster.
ABOUT YOU
-
You are a skilled and experienced caseworker who is ready to step into leadership.
- You know what good practice looks like from the inside — you have lived it — and now you want to bring that knowledge to a team.
- You may have led informally, acted in a senior role or simply been the person your colleagues turn to.
- What matters is that you have the practice depth, the people skills and the drive to lead well.
You will bring:
-
A minimum of three years casework experience in SHS, residential care or community-based programs — you understand this work from the ground up
- Sound knowledge of trauma-informed care, strengths-based practice and SHS case management standards
- Demonstrated leadership potential — whether through formal supervisory experience, acting roles or informal team leadership
- Strong people leadership skills — you build capability in others and hold your team to a high standard
- The ability to manage a diverse and complex workload across residential and community-based programs
- Experience working with Community Housing
- Providers or managing housing-related responsibilities is desirable
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
-
Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent
- Current NSW Working with Children Check
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check
- Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Availability to participate in the TYS on call roster
- A current First Aid certificate is required prior to commencement
