An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and experienced Meat Inspector Area Leader to join our team in the Beef Boning Room at the Brooklyn Plant.
In this hands-on leadership role, you will provide day-to-day support, guidance, and mentoring to the Beef team, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. You’ll play a key role in upholding and continuously improving our high standards of food safety, product quality, and animal welfare.
Working closely with QA, production, and operational teams, you’ll help drive a strong food safety culture, support audit readiness, and contribute to the development of best practices across the boning room.
This is a full-time position with annual salary not less than $79,423.00 plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the beef bone area to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to food safety standards
- Conduct thorough inspections of livestock, carcasses, and meat products to identify any disease or quality concerns, and provide guidance where necessary.
- Test and examine samples of meat and related products to verify size, purity, and safety requirements.
- Inspect meat products for compliance with biosecurity and food safety regulations, issuing directions to manage risks when required.
- Assist the Beef Shift Supervisor in coordinating and managing shift activities, with a focus on quality and compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company QA/QC policies
- Monitor and maintain quality control standards throughout the production process, including hygiene and product integrity
- Support internal audits and collaborate with QA staff to address non-compliances and implement corrective actions
- Train, mentor, and supervise team members to enhance skills, performance, and awareness of food safety culture
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to production, employee performance, and compliance monitoring
- Collaborate with QA and other departments to optimize workflow, resolve operational issues, and uphold safety specifications
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support WHS and environmental systems
- Contribute to the development and adherence of SOPs, work instructions, and company proceduresPerform other duties as directed, including support during external audits and sampling activities
