Salary: AUD $85,000 – $95,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
Capital Engineering Consultants (CEC) is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering practical and innovative engineering solutions across civil, stormwater, structural and related engineering disciplines. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Draftsperson with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant industry experience to join our team and provide high-quality drafting and technical documentation support for a range of residential, commercial, land development and infrastructure projects.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with Civil Engineers, Project Managers, consultants and project stakeholders to prepare accurate civil engineering drawings, plans and technical documentation throughout various project stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed civil engineering drawings, plans, sketches and technical documentation in support of Civil Engineers and project teams.
- Producing civil design drawings and documentation for projects involving stormwater drainage systems, site grading, earthworks, roadworks, drainage infrastructure and associated civil engineering works.
- Developing detailed engineering drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other industry-specific drafting tools, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications, engineering standards and design requirements.
- Interpreting engineering concepts, design calculations, technical specifications and engineer mark-ups to prepare accurate drafting documentation.
- Assisting Civil Engineers with the preparation and revision of civil engineering plans, construction drawings, sections, details and schedules.
- Preparing civil design packages including site layouts, earthworks plans, grading plans, stormwater drainage plans, profiles, cross-sections and construction details.
- Assisting with the preparation and documentation of stormwater management designs using relevant engineering software, including DRAINS and MUSIC, where required.
- Reviewing drawings and design documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements, engineering standards and client specifications.
- Incorporating design changes and updates into drawings based on feedback from engineers, consultants, contractors and project teams.
- Maintaining drawing registers, revision histories and document control systems to ensure accurate management of project documentation.
- Assisting with preparation of technical specifications, drawing schedules and supporting engineering documentation.
- Liaising with engineers, project managers, contractors and other stakeholders to clarify drafting requirements and resolve drawing-related issues.
- Providing drafting support throughout project phases including concept design, detailed design, approval documentation, tender documentation, construction drawings and as-built documentation.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Civil Engineering Draftsperson (or equivalent part-time experience).
- Relevant qualification of Diploma or higher in Civil Engineering, Engineering Drafting – Civil Design, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience preparing civil engineering drawings, plans and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of civil drafting principles, design documentation and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
- Experience with or exposure to stormwater modelling and drainage design software including DRAINS and MUSIC will be highly regarded.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, design mark-ups and technical instructions.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
