Department Overview: Network and Communications Department

Critical Role Accountabilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the Networking & Unified Communications team, providing technical direction, operational support and fostering a high-performance, safety-focused culture.
- Architect and oversee the design, implementation and ongoing management of enterprise networking and unified communications solutions that are secure, scalable and aligned to business needs.
- Ensure the effective operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of network and communications infrastructure, maintaining high levels of availability, resilience and performance.
- Develop, implement and govern networking operational standards, processes, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organisational and industry best practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors and cybersecurity specialists to evaluate requirements, provide technical guidance and deliver integrated technology solutions.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and proactively identify opportunities for network optimisation, innovation, enhancement and technology upgrades that improve business outcomes.
Critical Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (or related discipline) with advanced networking certifications such as CCIE, CCAr, or equivalent networking and security credentials.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in ICT infrastructure, with specialist expertise in networking and unified communications architecture, design, implementation and operational management.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering complex network and communication projects across geographically dispersed and enterprise-scale environments.
- Strong knowledge of network architecture, routing and switching, unified communications platforms, network security controls, governance frameworks and operational best practices.
- Proven ability to assess business requirements, develop solution architectures and make informed decisions that balance cost, performance, security, reliability and scalability considerations.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and vendor management skills, with a track record of influencing outcomes, driving continuous improvement and managing competing priorities in complex environments.
