AMC Electrical & Automation is a growing industrial electrical and automation business based in Griffith, NSW. We work across manufacturing, food processing, wineries, agriculture, water infrastructure and industrial sites throughout the Riverina.
As our project workload continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Designer to support our industrial automation and control system projects.
This role would suit someone who has strong practical design experience and can confidently take a work package, functional description or design brief and turn it into a complete, accurate and buildable set of electrical drawings and documentation.
This is not a graduate or junior drafting role. We are looking for someone with proven experience who understands industrial electrical design, control panels and the detail required to take a project from concept through to workshop build and site installation.
About the role
You will be responsible for preparing electrical design packages for industrial control and automation projects, including:
- Electrical schematics and control circuit drawings
- General arrangement drawings
- Panel layouts and panel sizing
- Bill of materials
- Cable schedules
- Terminal schedules
- I/O lists
- Instrumentation and device schedules
- Electrical distribution and control design
- As-built documentation
- Supporting workshop panel builds and site installation teams with clear, accurate documentation
You will work closely with our Managing Director, trades team, clients and suppliers to ensure designs are practical, compliant and suitable for real-world industrial environments.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone with experience in:
- Electrical design for industrial control systems
- Control panel design
- AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software
- Producing complete drawing packages from a functional description or work package
- Panel layout, component selection and BOM preparation
- Understanding of switchboards, MCCs, control panels and industrial distribution
- Electrical and instrumentation documentation
- Reading and interpreting technical specifications, functional descriptions and site requirements
- Working with electricians, engineers, suppliers and clients to deliver practical solutions
Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, machine safety, instrumentation or industrial automation projects would be highly regarded.

You are someone who takes pride in producing accurate, detailed and professional drawings.
You understand that a good electrical design needs to work not only on paper, but also in the workshop and out on site.
You can work from a brief, ask the right questions, identify missing information and produce documentation that helps the project move forward.
You are not looking for a junior role. You have experience behind you and are confident contributing to industrial electrical and automation projects.
