Join City of Moreton Bay as a GIS & Asset Data Technical Officer and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GIS & Asset Data Technical Officer to join our Asset Management team. In this role, you will play a key part in improving the quality, accuracy, and integrity of Council’s asset data, supporting better decision-making and service delivery.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of office-based data work and hands-on field validation, with a passion for GIS, spatial data, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities include
- Capture and maintain asset and spatial data from various sources, including as-constructed plans and ADAC files
- Support and improve GIS data capture processes and workflows
- Undertake data cleansing and data improvement initiatives to enhance asset information quality
- Conduct field inspections to collect, verify and update asset data, including:
- Confirming “as constructed” information
- Completing condition assessments
- Recording defects and compliance data
- Contribute to data maturity initiatives and support implementation of asset data improvement strategies
- Work collaboratively within the Asset Management team to foster a high-performing, customer-focused culture
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective asset management outcomes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience managing large and complex datasets, particularly asset and GIS data
- Working knowledge of GIS systems and spatial data capture and manipulation
- Understanding of asset management principles, systems and processes
- Experience conducting field data collection using GNSS receivers and smart devices
- Strong proficiency in GIS software, including data capture, extraction and analysis
- Solid skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn corporate systems quickly
- Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
