Sydney Education is seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Nurse Educator Grade 3 to lead our Safety and Quality education portfolio within Sydney Local Health District (SLHD)! This is a rare opportunity to shape district-wide capability in clinical governance, improvement science, human factors, and person‑centred care.
About the Role
Sydney Education is the education and training service for SLHD. Sydney Education provides a wide range of development opportunities to both the clinical and non-clinical workforce. Our broad portfolios include, Professional Practice, Clinical Practice and Safety, Transition to Practice, Education Support Services, Patient and Family Experience and Medical Education.
Sydney Education is also a major delivery site of the NSW Health RTO and provide a wide range of nationally recognised vocational education and training programs and qualifications.
The purpose of this position is to deliver high quality education and training initiatives to the staff of SLHD to ensure that they have the skills required to deliver or support the delivery of high-quality patient and family centred care.
As the Nurse Educator Grade 3 (Safety & Quality), you will provide expert leadership, design and deliver high‑quality education programs, and drive capability building across SLHD. Your portfolio will include:
- Leading the delivery of the Clinical Excellence Commission’s Safety and Quality Essentials Pathway.
- Developing and implementing education in clinical governance, improvement science, human factors, and organisational change management.
- Supporting District priorities.
- Providing operational leadership for the Lived Experience Educator Program, a unique and valued initiative within SLHD that ensures education is grounded in the voices of lived experience.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders across Sydney Education, Clinical Governance, and District leadership.
This role is central to sustaining essential safety and quality education programs and strengthening alignment with CEC frameworks.

Ideal Candidate
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as Registered Nurse/Midwife and relevant post registration nursing/midwifery clinical or education qualifications or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Commitment to professional development of self and others including reflective practice and the ability to identify areas for growth.
- Significant education experience including the development, delivery and evaluation of education strategies, projects and initiatives based on identified needs and priorities.
- Experience in a senior role with leadership responsibilities and demonstrated skills in consultation, negotiation, facilitation, coaching and mentoring, leading projects or significant workplace change including the engagement of multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to negotiate with influence across professional groups at all levels. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, effective relationships across professional groups.
