The Operations & Maintenance Director VIC is responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of all Operations and Maintenance activities across Victoria. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the successful execution of traffic signal, ITS and related maintenance contracts while fostering a strong safety culture, operational excellence and sustainable business growth.
The position is accountable for ensuring that all activities are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, legislative requirements, customer expectations and Yunex Traffic policies. The Director will drive continuous improvement, operational performance, workforce capability and customer satisfaction while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.
Role Purpose Statement
The Operations & Maintenance Director (VIC) is a member of the Australian Management Team and has overall responsibility for the leadership, performance and governance of the VIC Operations & Maintenance business. The role ensures all maintenance contracts are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably whilst meeting contractual, regulatory and customer requirements. The Director leads the development of a high-performance culture centred on safety, operational excellence, compliance, innovation and continuous improvement.

Delivery of all maintenance and operational contracts in accordance with contractual requirements.

Safety and EHS Leadership
Champion a Safety First culture across all operations.
Lead and demonstrate visible safety leadership at all levels of the organisation.
Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, environmental requirements and Yunex EHS standards.
Establish measurable safety objectives and monitor leading and lagging safety indicators.
Ensure all incidents, near misses and hazards are investigated and corrective actions implemented.
Conduct regular safety reviews, audits and field leadership inspections.
Promote worker wellbeing, mental health and fitness for work initiatives.
Ensure subcontractors and suppliers meet Yunex safety requirements.
Operational Excellence
Drive operational excellence initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity and customer outcomes.
Develop and implement operational strategies aligned to customer and business objectives.
Ensure effective contract mobilisation, service delivery and transition management.
Maintain service performance against contractual KPIs and SLAs.
Lead continuous improvement programs using data-driven performance management.
Optimise workforce planning, maintenance practices, asset management and resource utilisation.
Implement best-practice maintenance and operational processes.
Ensure operational risks are identified, monitored and mitigated.
Foster innovation and adoption of digital technologies to improve service delivery.
Governance, Risk and Compliance
Maintain accountability for compliance with all contractual, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards, quality systems and internal management systems.
Lead internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
Maintain effective risk management frameworks across all operational activities.
Ensure compliance with procurement, commercial, ethical and business conduct policies.
Monitor and manage contractual obligations and regulatory reporting requirements.
Ensure document control, record management and operational reporting processes are maintained.
Promote a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability.

Essential Experience
Senior leadership experience managing large-scale maintenance and operational service contracts.
Demonstrated experience leading safety-critical operations.
Strong understanding of WHS legislation and contractor management.
Proven track record in operational excellence and continuous improvement programs.
Experience managing compliance, audit and governance frameworks.
Strong stakeholder management skills with government and infrastructure customers.
Desirable
Experience within Traffic Signals, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Roads or Civil Infrastructure industries.
Knowledge of Transport for VIC requirements and maintenance frameworks.
Training in risk management, safety leadership or operational excellence methodologies.
