Overview of Role:
Pavement Techs are involved in most civil construction projects, typically found on projects such as roads,
bridges, footpaths, car parks, bike paths, container yards and airport runways.
Typically pavements we work on are bitumen spray seals, asphalt and concrete.
The work is mainly outdoors and requires physical fitness and due to restricted access to certain pavements,
night shifts may be required.
Pavement Tech Class 3 is the third level of competency for various pavement repair and maintenance
activities. As a Pavement Tech Class 3 you will be fully competent in all aspects of Pavement Tech Class 1
& 2 as well as various other higher skill sets. You will be competent operating a range of more specialised
machinery such as asphalt pavers, crack sealing machines, bitumen sprayers (cold & hot), and HC Trucks.
Personal Requirements:
To be successful as a Pavement Tech Class 3 you must:
- Have good comprehension of English (Speak, Read and Write)
- Have NSW OH & S General Induction (White Card)
- Have HC Drivers Licence
- Have Dangerous Goods Licence
- Enjoy practical and manual work
- Enjoy working outdoors
- Be physically fit
- Have good eyesight and coordination skills
- Be safety conscious
- Be alert and observant
- Be self motivated
- Be able to work in a team environment
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to follow verbal and written instructions
The Typical Range of tasks performed as a Pavement Tech Class 3 may include:
- All task preformed by a Pavement Tech Class 1 & 2
- Competently Operating Asphalt Paver
- Competently Operating Crack Sealing Machine
- Competently Operating Bitumen Sprayer
