Southern Cross Care is seeking a part-time Café Attendant to join our team at our beautiful Duhig Village Residential Aged Care Home in Holland Park.

About the role
In this role, you will play an important part in preparing, cooking and serving fresh, nutritious meals while providing excellent customer service in the Duhig Village Café. Working as part of a supportive hospitality team, you will assist with day-to-day café and kitchen operations to ensure residents, families, visitors and staff receive high-quality food and service.

What are the key responsibilities?
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare, cook, plate and serve meals, snacks and beverages to a high standard.
- Assist with food preparation and meal service in accordance with the Food Safety Program.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to residents, families, visitors and staff in the café.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
- Clean kitchen work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes and café facilities.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving, checking and storing food and supplies.
- Complete basic kitchen records, including meal counts and food safety documentation.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining quality and presentation.
- Comply with Workplace Health and Safety policies, food safety requirements and SCCQ procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the hospitality team to provide a positive dining experience.
What will you bring to the role?
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (desired).
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen, café or hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook meals to a high standard.
- Good knowledge of food safety principles and HACCP practices (preferred).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Compassion, patience and a genuine commitment to supporting older people.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
