About Waratah Respite Services
Waratah Respite Services is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing flexible respite services in Coffs Harbour and surrounding districts since 1987.
We provide centre-based social support and respite care in Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga, as well as flexible overnight respite in our Cottage for older people, people living with dementia and their carers.
At Waratah, we promote independence, wellbeing and social connection, while providing a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for our clients and their families.
About the Role
We are seeking a Domestic Services Assistant to join our friendly team at Waratah Respite.
This is an important role in ensuring our respite environment is clean, comfortable, safe and welcoming for our clients, their families and our staff.
The successful applicant will work permanently 2 days per week, with the opportunity to work additional shifts as required to meet the needs of the service.
The role will include a variety of domestic duties across our respite service, including:
- General cleaning of client and common areas
- Laundry as required
- Kitchen duties, including meal assistance, cleaning and maintaining kitchen areas as required
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation
- Restocking household and kitchen supplies as required
- Assisting with setting up and preparing areas for clients
- Following food safety, infection control, workplace health and safety and organisational procedures
- Working as part of a supportive team to ensure the smooth running of the respite service
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in their work and has a strong eye for detail
- Has experience in cleaning, housekeeping, hospitality, kitchen or domestic services (preferred)
- Is reliable, punctual and well organised
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills
- Is able to work independently and as part of a team
- Has a caring and respectful approach when working around older people and people living with dementia
- Understands the importance of maintaining privacy, dignity and confidentiality
- Is flexible and willing to work additional shifts when required
- Is committed to maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment
- Covid and Influenza vaccinations preferred
- Has a current National Police Check or willing to obtain
Experience working in aged care, respite, disability, hospitality, health care or a similar environment will be highly regarded.
