About the role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Retail Manager to lead the daily operations of our fast-paced food retail establishment in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to a commercially minded professional who thrives in a high-volume retail food environment and can inspire a team to consistently deliver outstanding results. You will hold overall responsibility for the performance, profitability, and compliance of the outlet. You will be the key decision-maker on the ground, shaping the customer experience, managing the team, and driving the commercial success of the business.
Key responsibilities
- Directing and overseeing store operations: Taking full accountability for the day-to-day running of the retail food outlet, including opening and closing procedures, operational workflow, and ensuring all activities meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Purchasing, stock replenishment and pricing implementation: Managing stock ordering and replenishment in accordance with approved supplier arrangements; monitoring stock levels, supplier performance and product availability; implementing franchisor-approved pricing and promotional changes; and monitoring sales, costs and margins to support the store's financial performance.
- Planning and executing marketing and promotional activities: Designing and coordinating in-store promotions, loyalty initiatives, and local area marketing campaigns to drive foot traffic, increase average transaction value, and grow the customer base.
- Managing and developing the team: Leading the full employee lifecycle for store staff, including recruitment, induction, rostering, performance management, coaching, and the delivery of ongoing training to maintain a high-performing and engaged workforce.
- Financial performance and budget management: Monitoring the store's financial performance against approved budgets and targets; analysing sales, labour costs and other operating expenses; identifying variances and areas for improvement; and implementing operational actions to achieve profitability and performance targets.
- Overseeing inventory and stock management: Maintaining accurate stock records, conducting regular stocktakes, minimising shrinkage and wastage, and ensuring product availability aligns with customer demand and seasonal trends.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards: Implementing and enforcing compliance with all applicable food safety legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, employment laws, and internal company policies to maintain a safe and legally compliant workplace.
About you
- Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or higher qualification in Business Management, Business Administration, Retail Management, Hospitality Management, Commerce or a related field
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail management or supervisory role
Pay: $78,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
