About the Position
The Coordinator Roads is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the planning, delivery and management of the Shire's road maintenance and repair programs, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the Shire's road network and associated infrastructure.
Leading a dedicated team and working collaboratively with contractors, stakeholders and the wider organisation, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Shire's road and transport infrastructure services, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and oversee road maintenance, construction and infrastructure works across the Shire.
- Monitor budgets, manage works schedules, and oversee procurement and purchasing activities.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the delivery of maintenance and construction activities as required.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all road and infrastructure operations.
- Ensure the safety of staff, contractors, road users and community members.
- Develop and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
- Ensure works are undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and Shire policies.
- Lead, supervise and support road maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate workforce scheduling, rostering and resource allocation.
- Facilitate regular toolbox meetings and team communications.
- Assist with recruitment, selection and workforce development activities.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and leadership to foster a high-performing and safety-focused team.
Based in Tom price, this role offers the opportunity to work across the Shire while enjoying the benefits of company provided housing and a generous relocation package. The position operates on a 5:2 roster, working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with occasional overtime on an as required basis.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in roads maintenance role or equivalent
- Previous leadership experience
- Previous scheduling, and work planning experience
- Previous experience in preparation and review of safety documentation
- Minimum HR drivers’ licence
- White Card
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong decision-making capability
