Support Near Me is seeking compassionate, reliable, and experienced Female Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team in Austral, NSW.
This role involves supporting participants with daily living activities, personal care, community access, and implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies within a person-centred environment.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will assist participants to live independently, achieve their goals, develop daily living skills, and actively engage in their community while maintaining their dignity, choice, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene support.
- Supporting participants with meal preparation, medication assistance, household tasks, and daily routines.
- Facilitating community access, appointments, shopping, recreational activities, and social participation.
- Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP) and following support strategies consistently.
- Supporting participants with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
- Maintaining accurate progress notes, incident reports, and documentation.
- Promoting participant choice, independence, dignity, and inclusion.
- Working collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, and support coordinators.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience working in Disability Support, Supported Independent Living (SIL), or a similar support environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with high-complexity support needs, challenging behaviours, and demanding support requirements.
- Proven experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP).
- Demonstrated experience providing personal care.
- Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional during behavioural escalations.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Smartphone and ability to complete electronic progress notes and incident reports.
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, sleepovers, and active nights as required.
Highly Desirable
- Experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Experience supporting participants with Intellectual Disability, Mental Health, or complex behavioural support needs.
- Medication Administration competency.
- Manual Handling training.
- Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Restrictive Practice requirements.
