Looking for a hands-on workshop role where you can develop your mechanical skills and work on some of the largest Caterpillar powertrain components in Australia?
At WesTrac's Component Rebuild Centre in South Guildford, you'll join a supportive team assisting with the rebuild, repair and assembly of Caterpillar transmissions and final drives that keep the mining and construction industries moving.
Whether you're an experienced Trade Assistant or have mechanical experience from automotive, manufacturing, agriculture, mining or another trade environment, we'll provide the training and support to help you succeed.

Roster
- Monday to Friday roster | Home every weekend | 25% night shift loading
- 2 weeks day shift (6:00am to 4:30pm)
- 2 weeks night shift (4:00pm to 2:30am)
What You'll Do
• Support the rebuild and overhaul of Caterpillar transmissions and final drives
- Assist with component disassembly, cleaning and assembly activities
- Operate workshop tools and equipment safely
- Support quality inspections and workshop processes
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
- Work alongside experienced tradespeople in a supportive team environment
Skills & Experience
• Experience as a Trade Assistant or within a mechanical workshop environment
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- A strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
- Pride in producing quality work
Highly Regarded, but Not Essential
- Forklift Licence
- Dogging Ticket
- Experience working with engines, drivetrains or mechanical components
- Exposure to maintenance, repairs or component rebuilds
