We support NDIS participants with a range of needs, including participants requiring assistance with daily living, community access, complex care and high-intensity supports.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our growing team across Bendigo, Castlemaine and Kyneton.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to NDIS participants to assist them to live safely and as independently as possible.
Depending on the participant, duties may include:
- Assistance with personal care, showering, dressing and grooming
- Toileting and continence support
- Assistance with meals and meal preparation
- Medication assistance within scope and competency
- Community access and participation
- Transport to appointments and activities
- Domestic assistance and household tasks
- Supporting participants with daily routines
- Promoting independence, choice and control
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Supporting participants with psychosocial disability and mental health needs
- Following participant care plans, behaviour support plans and risk management strategies
- Supporting participants with complex or high-intensity needs following appropriate training and competency assessment
- Monitoring participants for changes in their health or wellbeing and escalating concerns appropriately
- Completing accurate progress notes and incident documentation
- Communicating effectively with participants, families, nurses and other members of the care team
Clinical Support & Training
As a nursing-led organisation, our Disability Support Workers have access to Registered Nurse support and clinical oversight.
Where participants have complex or high-intensity support needs, Need2Heal provides participant-specific education, training and competency assessment before staff undertake relevant supports independently.
About You
We are looking for people who are caring, professional and genuinely interested in supporting people with disability.
Previous experience working within the NDIS, disability, aged care or community care sector is highly regarded.
Experience supporting participants with mental health or psychosocial disability, complex behaviours or high-intensity needs would be an advantage.
You will need to be able to work independently in the community while recognising when concerns need to be escalated to the nursing or management team.
Essential Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to have or obtain:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Cert III or IV desirable
- Working with Children Check where required
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable and insured vehicle
- Appropriate qualifications and/or relevant disability support experience
- Evidence of Australian working rights
- Ability to use a mobile device for rostering and clinical documentation
- Willingness to undertake participant-specific training and competency assessments
