The Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our Operations Finance Team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will drive end-to-end financial operations support across our Supermarkets and Metro Operations teams. In this dynamic role, you won't just crunch numbers—you will partner closely with senior leadership, Senior Finance Managers, and store operations to translate complex data sets into actionable narratives.
What you’ll do

Business Partnering & Insights: Partner with senior leadership, Finance Managers, and store operations to translate complex datasets into simple models and compelling financial narratives that drive strategic decision-making.

End-to-End Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead and manage the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and monthly forecasting cycles for operations cost centers, ensuring timely alignment with the financial envelope. Support the SBA and FM in the delivery of the AOP, including Sales, CODB and reconciliation to the Strat Plan.

Financial Control & Analysis: Deliver robust cost analysis and variance tracking for store expenses and operational cost centers to identify emerging Risks and Opportunities (R&O) and minimize financial "noise."

Month-End Delivery: Support the month-end process by providing deep-dive insights into operations-controllable costs (CODB) and preparing executive-ready commentary.Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Drive process efficiencies by identifying duplication, evolving reporting suites, and utilising AI and automation to shift focus toward high-value insight generation.

On-the-Ground Operational Alignment: Spend regular, purposeful time in stores to bridge the gap between financial reporting and real-world store operations, identifying cost-saving and internal control initiatives.
What you’ll bring

Qualifications: Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a CA/CPA qualification (or currently working towards it).

Technical & Data Skills: Strong technical proficiency in processing large data volumes and building financial models, with experience using tools like SAP, GCP, or Generative AI to drive efficiencies.

Commercial Acumen: A proven track record of understanding cost drivers and identifying opportunities for improvement to enable strategic business decisions.

Agility & Deliverables: Ability to multitask and thrive within an agile environment, comfortably managing multiple ongoing projects under firm deadlines.

Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to the business.
