Product Development Engineer
Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) requires the skills of an experienced (ideally 5+ years) Product Development Engineer to competently operate across the conceptual, design and testing phases of new products being used in construction domestically and internationally. This role works within a wider Research & Development team creating new ideas, exploring design facets of form, function and performance, investigating cost effectiveness and manufacturability, and assisting to make protypes and carry out testing. This role will also offer advice and expertise to develop the team.

Main Responsibilities

Early research, investigation and feasibility of new ideas, both product and materials

Building ideas to become practical and tangible

Research and advise on test methods for various prototypes

Undertake initial relationship building to positively influence the early stages in the setup of new material supply chains

Contribution to the co-ordination of new projects

Concept development of product and manufacturing processes

Create concepts for early prototypes and provide advice on testing methods and performance specifications

Provide input to product design for function, cost and manufacturing efficiency
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role you will need:

Bachelor of Engineering (or similar) and demonstrated relevant work history in a manufacturing environment

Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), including mechanical design, assemblies, and engineering documentation

Be able to adopt a hands-on approach to product development by participating in prototype manufacture, assembly, testing, troubleshooting and validation activities

Out of the box thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit to develop new ideas
-
High level organisational skills and follow through to steer new products from concept through to design and testing
-
Strong problem-solving abilities and logical thinking to overcome obstacles during new product development
-
Strong communication and collaboration skills to build productive relationships across teams and with external stakeholders

A willingness to impart knowledge and develop team members
