Primary objective
Deliver professional administrative services, including providing financial and administrative support to the Administration
Manager and provide administrative and organisational support to the Principal and Executive Team in a busy and demanding
on-line school environment.
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to
students’ resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home
schools, supporting educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. School staff
must be prepared to travel, use advanced online technologies, and work in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide various support to the Principal and Executive Team, such as scheduling meetings by checking staff availability,
working around travel, leave and room availability.
2. Quality assure school calendars and timelines.
3. Provide administrative support to reception including answering calls, greeting visitors, managing general enquiries, and
monitoring various inboxes.
4. Use computer software packages to undertake word processing, data entry, office administration, and perform
administrative and other tasks as directed by the Business Manager and Administration Manager.
5. When required, assist the finance team with purchases and receipting.
6. Assist in the ongoing development of administration policies and procedures.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support in duties such as, managing calendars, scheduling
meetings, minute taking, handling correspondence and purchases and receipting within the finance team.
2. Proficiency in the use of computer systems and software, including Office 365, email, electronic calendar applications
and a willingness to adopt new technology.
3. A ‘can do’ attitude with a high level of flexibility, motivation, initiative, organisational skills, confidentiality, ability to
prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
4. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, including the ability to think creatively and the ability to learn and
apply processes and concepts quickly.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Desirable
1. Managing calendars, scheduling meetings and experience working in a busy office environment.
