About the Role
The Urban Growth Projects branch partners with our community, investors, and stakeholders to lead sustainable urban growth that connects the Sunshine Coast community and contributes to one of the fastest growing economic, population and commercial activity centres of Australia.
The role of a Technical Officer is to assist with the planning of high-quality transport assets including investigating network deficiencies, developing remedial options, estimating construction costs and managing projects through Council’s capital works program.
As a Technical Officer, you will:
- Assist with planning investigations and development of concept designs for transport corridor upgrades, including project management, project briefs, site and preliminary investigations, procurement and contract management
- Prepare technical reports documenting procedures and findings of transport network investigations, clearly communicating outcomes to inform network upgrades
- Maintain and enhance Council’s traffic survey database, providing accurate data for integration into corporate and spatial systems
- Assist in the development, prioritisation and ongoing maintenance of transport capital works subprograms, ensuring alignment with Council’s transport strategies and policies
About you
As a requirement of this role, you will possess an Associate Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline recognised by the Engineers Australia.
You will have demonstrated experience in undertaking transport engineering projects or road design including applying strong analytical problem solving and developing innovative remedial strategies.
You will have demonstrated experience in running traffic engineering and associated technical software.
You will have the ability to prepare technical reports that document transport investigations and articulate complex issues.
