Melbourne SHS & Security Senior Advisor & Superintendent
Australian Amalgamated Terminals (AAT) is seeking an experienced SHS & Security Senior Advisor & Superintendent to join our Melbourne operations team. This key role supports the safe, compliant and efficient operation of our Webb Dock and Appleton Dock terminals, driving positive safety outcomes while partnering closely with operational leaders, contractors and stakeholders.

About the Role
Reporting to the Terminal Managers, you will be responsible for overseeing Safety, Health & Sustainability (SHS) activities, contractor management, security access controls, compliance requirements and supporting terminal operations.
You will play a critical role in maintaining AAT's safety management systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading contractor management processes and supporting operational teams to deliver safe and efficient terminal activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and drive a positive safety-first culture across Melbourne terminals.
- Manage and maintain the site's Safety, Health & Sustainability management systems.
- Support contractor management, access control processes and permit systems.
- Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Facilitate Return to Work and injury management programs.
- Maintain site risk registers and support safety improvement initiatives.
- Lead contractor audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
- Support maintenance contractor performance and maintenance system administration.
- Prepare monthly SHS reports and operational statistics.
- Participate in operational meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide relief support for Superintendent duties as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum requirement).
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience in safety, contractor management and operational environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
- Experience maintaining WHS management systems and risk registers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across operational, maintenance and leadership teams.
- Knowledge of port, transport, logistics, stevedoring or heavy industrial operations will be highly regarded.
