About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Care Worker (Aged or Disabled Carer) to provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to elderly and people living with disabilities in their homes and community settings. The successful applicant will assist clients to maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Providing personal care assistance including bathing, showering, grooming, dressing and toileting.
- Assisting clients with mobility, transfers and safe use of mobility aids.
- Supporting clients with daily living activities while promoting independence.
- Preparing nutritious meals and assisting with feeding where required.
- Administering or assisting with medication in accordance with care plans and organisational policies.
- Monitoring clients' physical, emotional and behavioural wellbeing and reporting any changes to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
- Providing companionship, emotional support and encouraging social interaction.
- Assisting clients to attend appointments, community activities and social outings.
- Performing domestic assistance including cleaning, laundry, bed making and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Assisting with shopping, collecting prescriptions and running essential errands.
- Maintaining accurate client records, progress notes and incident reports.
- Following individual care plans and supporting clients in achieving their personal goals.
- Complying with infection control procedures, workplace health and safety requirements, and all relevant legislation.
- Respecting client privacy, dignity, cultural diversity and confidentiality at all times.
- Working collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals and other support staff to deliver high-quality care.
- Undertaking any other duties that are reasonable and consistent with the position.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or equivalent) or relevant qualification.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable motor vehicle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for supporting elderly people and individuals living with disabilities.
Desirable
- Experience working in aged care, disability support or home care.
- Medication Administration training.
- Manual Handling training.
- Knowledge of person-centred care principles.
