Pakka Jacks is looking for two experienced Mechanical Leads to support our operations.
These roles will suit a trade-qualified mechanical person who has spent real time around heavy mining equipment and understands what it takes to get a job done safely, practically and properly. We are not looking for someone who wants to sit behind a desk all day. We are looking for someone who can lead from the front, deal with customers, and make sound decisions in the field.
If you have a strong background in above-ground mining, heavy mobile equipment, shutdowns, breakdowns, major component work, or excavator and shovel maintenance, this role is worth a conversation.
About Pakka Jacks
Pakka Jacks provides specialist heavy lifting solutions for excavators, shovels and draglines. Our systems are used to support major maintenance activities such as slew bearing change-outs, undercarriage work, track frame maintenance and other heavy equipment maintenance tasks.
The work requires people who respect planning, understand risk, and know that a successful job depends on preparation, communication and experience.
About the Role
As the Mechanical Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the preparation, execution and completion of Pakka Jacks field work across various mining sites.
You will work closely with customers, site teams, supervisors, trades and internal Pakka Jacks personnel to make sure work is planned, equipment is ready, and jobs are completed safely in a professional manner.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to understand the work, support the crew, identify issues early and help keep the job moving.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assist with planning and execution of Pakka Jacks projects
- Work with customers and site representatives to secure and coordinate job requirements
- Support safe set-up, operation and pack-up of jacking equipment
- Review equipment condition before and after site work
- Assist with inspections, maintenance and basic fault finding
- Help identify tooling, equipment, parts and labour requirements
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and job control
- Communicate clearly with the Pakka Jacks team and customer contacts
- Mentor team members where required
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with:
- A mechanical trade qualification, such as Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Fitter, Fitter Machinist, Boilermaker or similar
- Strong experience in above-ground mining maintenance
- Exposure to large excavators, shovels, and draglines
- Experience in shutdowns, major component change-outs or field service work
- A practical understanding of hydraulics, mechanical systems, tooling and lifting activities
- The ability to read and work to procedures, lift plans, SWMS, JSEAs and site requirements
- Strong safety awareness and the confidence to stop a job if something is not right
- Good communication skills with both tradespeople and customer representatives
- A calm, steady approach under pressure
- A willingness to travel to site when required
Previous leading hand, supervisor or site coordination experience will be highly regarded, but the most important thing is practical mining experience, mechanical capability and the right attitude.
The Person Who Will Suit This Role
This role will suit someone who has already done the hard yards in mining and wants to use that experience in a specialist role.
You might be the person others go to when a job gets complicated. You know how to work safely around large equipment. You understand that planning matters, but you also know that site conditions change and practical decisions need to be made. You are comfortable talking to fitters, supervisors, planners, maintenance managers and customers.
You do not need to be polished or corporate. You do need to be reliable, switched on, safety focused and able to lead people in the field.
Why Join Pakka Jacks?

- Take ownership of field work and equipment readiness
