About the role
As a V/Line Signaller, you will coordinate and manage train movements within a designated control area by operating signalling systems and following all relevant rail safety rules and operating procedures.
You will help deliver safe, reliable, and efficient train services for V/Line passengers
and third-party rail operators. Depending on location, the role may also include customer service duties such as ticket sales, ticket stock management, and daily banking activities.
A key focus of the role is maintaining a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors through effective risk identification and management. You may also be required to undertake other duties aligned with your skills, capabilities, and classification.
Key accountabilities include:
Safely manage train movements within the control area by operating signalling systems, points and signals in accordance with rail safety rules and procedures.
Coordinate with Train Control, neighbouring networks, maintenance teams and workgroups to ensure safe and efficient rail operations.
Monitor and report signalling faults, manage track access protections, and maintain operational records.
Ensure the security, cleanliness and operational readiness of signalling and station facilities.
Deliver excellent customer service by providing timely travel information, supporting service disruptions, and helping resolve customer enquiries.
Promote a strong safety culture by identifying risks, reporting incidents, and maintaining a safe environment for employees, customers and the community.
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, embracing continuous improvement and V/Line's values and behaviours.
Maintain compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and integrity standards.
Location & Travel Considerations
Given the critical, hands-on nature of the work, this is an onsite-only position based at Kilmore East. Due to fatigue management considerations, candidates who reside within 1 hour/ 80 kms radius will be required
Roster
This position requires ongoing availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays morning, afternoon + evening shifts across a 38 hr week
About you
This position will suit a detail-oriented operator with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will have the opportunity to thrive in time-sensitive environments and make quick, accurate decisions under pressure. You need to bring excellent communication and reasoning skills to every task while learning on the job safe working requirements.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Valid Victorian Drivers License
Located within 80 Kms of Kilmore East and Seymour
Able to travel between sites daily

This position will be paid in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administration Employees Agreement 2023 SIGNALLER, $46.3500 p/h + 5 weeks Annual Leave + 20% loading.
