Cyprium Metals Limited is an Australian copper company focused on the redevelopment of the Nifty Copper Complex in Western Australia. Nifty is a brownfield copper asset with substantial existing infrastructure and a long operating history. Cyprium is progressing a staged restart at Nifty and is building the team and capability needed to support safe and effective operations.
Role Overview
The Mining Engineer is responsible for providing technical mining engineering support to the Nifty Copper Complex, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective mining operations. The role develops and optimises mine designs, production plans and engineering solutions while supporting day-to-day operational performance and continuous improvement.
Working closely with the General Manager – Nifty Operations, Mining Contractor and other technical and operational teams, the Mining Engineer ensures mining activities are practical, technically sound and aligned with production, safety and business objectives.
The role supports both the ongoing optimisation of mining operations and the transition from site restart into stable, sustainable production.
Mining Engineering
- Develop and maintain short, medium and long-term mine designs and production plans to support operational requirements.
- Prepare and review mine designs, drill and blast plans, production schedules and engineering documentation.
- Ensure mine designs maximise ore recovery while maintaining safety, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Monitor mining performance against plan and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce mining costs.
- Provide technical support to operational teams to resolve day-to-day mining issues.
Operational Support
- Work closely with the mining contractor to ensure mining activities are executed in accordance with approved designs and schedules.
- Conduct regular reconciliation of production, ore movement and mining performance against plan.
- Monitor ground conditions, geotechnical recommendations and operational constraints to ensure safe mining practices.
- Assist with ventilation, dewatering, infrastructure and other engineering requirements as required.
Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Support the integrated planning process across mining, processing, maintenance and geology.
- Identify operational constraints, risks and improvement opportunities and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Contribute to life-of-mine planning, budget development and forecasting activities.
- Assist in evaluating mining methods, equipment performance and operational initiatives to improve productivity and reliability.
Ramp Up and Production Readiness Support
- Support planning activities required for the ramp-up into production and stabilisation of site operations
- Assist in integrating restart priorities, contractor execution plans and operational constraints with mine planning activities
- Help ensure mining plans remain practical and responsive as the site moves through start-up and early production phases
Contractor and Site Coordination
- Work closely with the mining contractor to align execution with agreed plans and production expectations
- Support strong coordination between contractor activities and owner-side operational priorities
- Monitor actual performance against plan and assist in identifying and resolving deviations or shortfalls
Plan Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Track performance against plan and monitor key variances, trends and planning risks
- Prepare clear and timely planning reports and updates for site leadership
- Support the General Manager, Nifty Operations and Mine Manager with accurate planning information for operational decision making
Continuous Improvement and Planning Discipline
- Contribute to the improvement of site mine planning processes, tools and routines
- Support disciplined planning standards, data accuracy and follow-through across the mine planning process
- Work with operational and technical stakeholders to improve schedule quality, planning practicality and execution outcomes
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure mine planning activities support safe and practical field execution
- Incorporate relevant safety, operational and site constraints into mine plans and schedules
- Promote compliance with site procedures, planning standards and operational requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience in an operational mining environment
- Demonstrated experience in short-term mine planning, scheduling or technical services within an open pit mining environment
- Experience supporting production planning and operational coordination on an active mine site
- Experience working with mining contractors or in owner-side contractor interface roles

Pay: $175,000.00 per year
