The Victorian Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) was established in December 2025 to reduce violence in Victoria through an early intervention and prevention approach. It operates across Government to tackle and disrupt violence by:

Taking a preventative and public health approach to address the root causes of violence

Coordinating across Government and local services so crime prevention works better, with fewer gaps

Using data and intelligence to target its interventions when and where they’re needed most

About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Programs and Governance, the Program Manager, South Sudanese Community Hub will lead engagement and collaboration with diverse communities and stakeholder groups across Victoria, to begin implementation of key recommendations of the South Sudanese Australian Expert Working Group (EWG). This role will work collaboratively across the VRU to:

provide high-quality advice on the service design, community engagement and planning of the South Sudanese Community Hub to coordinate culturally safe supports.

lead specific projects and initiatives in relation to communities impacted by violence, engaging meaningfully with community members and groups to ensure that the VRU’s work is informed by community perspectives and needs

support the governance and delivery of the design in partnership with community organisations and other government agencies, ensuring meaningful engagement from the outset.

contribute to the VRU’s strategic objectives by embedding a public health approach to violence prevention initiatives, ensuring activities align with government priorities.
Key Accountabilities:

Provide authoritative, high-impact strategic advice to the Premier, Ministers and senior executives on the establishment of the South Sudanese Community Hub, shaping the service design, community engagement and planning through the synthesis of evidence, cross-sector intelligence and community insights, and exercising sound judgement in politically sensitive and ambiguous contexts.

Build and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders across government and community organisations, and represent the VRU in cross-government forums, consultations and strategic discussions

Drive end-to-end program strategy and oversight, maintaining accountability for the planning, governance and performance of the design and planning, proactively identifying and managing risks, interdependencies and delivery challenges to ensure achievement of intended outcomes.
