We collaborate with all the big brands, from Kenworth and Mack to Volvo and Scania, and the list goes on. Join our passionate team and help us build a legacy in the trucking industry.
The Opportunity:
Due to rapid growth, we are seeking a motivated
Draftsperson to join our crew. In this hands-on role, you will bridge the gap between concept and creation by performing manual take-offs and reverse-engineering components directly from the trucks. You will be responsible for designing and refining high-end components, managing CAD data for production (DXF, STEP, IGES), and generating critical documentation like BOMs and SOWs. Working closely with our workshop and overseas drafting teams, you’ll ensure every custom build is engineered to perfection.
Please note: Applicants will be invited to complete an automated video screening as part of the shortlisting process.
The Role:
- Perform manual take-offs from trucks and reverse-engineer components (may involve travel to sites for measurements).
- Design new components based on customer and/or company requirements.
- Revise and optimise existing components.
- Manage CAD drawings and revision control.
- Export and organise file types for cutting and pressing (DXF, STEP, IGES, and PDF).
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and Scopes of Work (SOW).
- Review build sheets and input engineering details for procurement and production.
- Organise job drawings for manufacture and fitment.
- Maintain workshop folders and documentation.
- Work closely with the fabrication, fitting, and overseas drafting teams.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including advanced modelling techniques.
- A background in the automotive, trucking, or trailer industries.
- A methodical approach to design: from take-off and CAD to drafting and reviewing.
- Highly motivated with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
- Proven experience in reverse engineering or manual take-offs.
- High-level communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Advantageous).
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment (Advantageous).
- Solid understanding of technical drawing standards.
- Comprehension of welding and material documentation.
- Experience with light-gauge manufacturing.
- Experience with online planning software is a bonus, but not essential.
