The opportunity
Elders Insurance, part of the QBE Group, operates an Agency Network distributing general insurance products and is one of Australia's largest regional and rural insurance providers.
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Strategic Learning & Capability Manager to join the Elders Insurance team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Head of Network Capability, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of Learning & Development across the Elders Insurance network, driving capability uplift, learning transformation and the modernisation of learning practices.

Your new role
As the Strategic Learning & Capability Manager, you will lead the evolution of learning and capability across the Elders Insurance network. Working with a small team, you'll focus on shaping strategy, driving transformation and introducing innovative, future-focused learning solutions that build capability, improve efficiency and support business growth.
- Develop and execute Elders Insurance's learning and capability strategy.
- Create capability frameworks and learning pathways that support workforce growth and development.
- Lead the modernisation of learning practices, processes and technologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, AI and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders to understand current and future capability requirements.
- Manage external learning providers and oversee the development of learning solutions.
- Lead and support a small Learning & Development team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
About you
You're a strategic Learning & Development professional who combines strong leadership capabilities with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement. You enjoy challenging traditional approaches, leveraging technology and creating scalable learning solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Proven experience in Learning & Development, Capability, Organisational Development or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated success developing learning strategies, capability frameworks and workforce development initiatives.
- Experience leading and developing small, high-performing teams.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and digital learning methodologies.
- Exposure to Articulate Storyline, Rise or similar learning authoring tools.
- Experience driving learning transformation, process improvement or technology-enabled change.
- Insurance industry experience and exposure to Guidewire will be highly regarded.
