About us:
Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services provide compassionate, comprehensive care across the region, including Cape York, Torres Strait, and the Northern Peninsula Area. The service supports people at every stage of their journey, through treatment, rehabilitation, early intervention, and prevention, ensuring care is accessible and tailored to individual needs. Through Access Services, people are guided to the right support at the right time by a range of dedicated teams, including Acute Care, intake services, co-responder programs with ambulance and police, sub-acute services, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, Primary Mental Health Care Liaison, and the Mental Health Hospital in the Home service. This program offers hospital-level care in the comfort and familiarity of home, supporting people experiencing acute mental illness with personalised, recovery-focused care, and working closely with families and carers every step of the way.
About your role:
Apply independent clinical judgement and decision making to complex clinical mental health presentations.
Maintain the currency and high quality of clinical practice knowledge, skills, and expertise by actively contributing to and participating in professional development activities.
Contribute to the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of a broad range of treatment and prevention activities to promote recovery from mental illness.
Proactively participate in the multidisciplinary team and actively promote the services and profile of Access Services within the Hospital and Health Service.
Act as a role model and mentor for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced mental health clinicians in the provision of holistic mental health care.
