About the Role
KLK Farms Pty Ltd t/as Tatchbrook Farm is a mixed cropping and livestock agribusiness focused on producing high-quality output, using sustainable practices, and investing in technology to improve innovation and growth. We are looking for a full time Agricultural Cropping Technician to join the team.
Reporting to the Farm Manager, this role drives the success of our broadacre cropping program. You will help maximise crop production outcomes through field monitoring, advising on crop operations and cropping programs, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work with the Farm Manager to implement short, medium and long-term cropping plans aligned with production, cost, sustainability and risk-management objectives.
- Monitor paddock, soil and seasonal conditions, including crop establishment, weed burden, pest and disease observations, moisture conditions and operational constraints, and report findings to the Farm Manager.
- Assist and monitor the technical implementation of crop programs, including seeding, fertiliser, chemical and harvest activities, to ensure work is carried out in accordance with agreed plans, rates, timings and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of paddock operations, machinery performance, input use, commodity movements, storage activities, maintenance requirements and other farm data using approved systems and software.
- Liaise with the Farm Manager, agronomists, contractors and other team members regarding seasonal conditions, crop performance, machinery readiness and operational priorities.
Skills and Knowledge
The role requires:
- Experience in broadacre cropping
- Understanding of crop agronomy, timing, paddock preparation and seasonal impacts
- Knowledge of precision agriculture systems
- Ability to monitor paddock conditions and report clearly
- Good record-keeping and reporting skills
- Mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance and repairs
- Ability to work well with managers, agronomists, contractors and staff
- Strong focus on safety and compliance
Qualifications / Licences Required
- Relevant qualification plus at least 1 year of experience, or 3 years of relevant experience
- Current driver’s licence
- Chem Cert or similar chemical accreditation (preferred)
- Any machinery, forklift, or other licences needed for the role
