The purpose of this role is to perform scientific, technical and diagnostic testing activities within the Microbiology Laboratory, supporting the delivery of high-quality bacteriology services through specimen processing, laboratory investigations and quality assurance activities.
What you'll do
In this role you will perform specimen reception and processing activities, conduct microbiology and bacteriology investigations using established laboratory techniques, operate and maintain specialised laboratory equipment, participate in quality assurance and quality management programs, contribute to NATA and ISO accreditation requirements, support equipment monitoring and maintenance activities, provide guidance and assistance to junior staff, participate in a night shift and weekend roster, and contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely diagnostic services.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
Holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), Bachelor of Science (Microbiology) or equivalent qualification
Has experience or interest in microbiology and bacteriology laboratory testing
Can work effectively within a fast-paced laboratory environment
Has strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Can contribute to quality assurance and accreditation activities
Is willing to participate in night shift and weekend roster arrangements
