About the role
CMD VERTEX ENGINEERING is seeking an experienced Solar Roof Worker to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on position based in Melbourne, where you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of solar panel systems on residential and commercial rooftops. As a Solar Roof Worker, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions to our clients, contributing to our mission of advancing sustainable energy adoption across Victoria & NSW.
What you'll be doing
Installing solar panel systems, mounting structures, and associated electrical components on residential and commercial rooftops
Conducting pre-installation assessments to determine optimal panel placement and structural requirements
Performing roofing work including repairs, waterproofing, and weatherproofing to ensure system longevity
Safely handling and positioning heavy materials and equipment at height using appropriate safety protocols
Connecting solar panels to inverters, electrical switchboards, and grid systems under supervision
Carrying out maintenance and repairs on existing solar installations
Ensuring all work complies with relevant building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations
Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used
Collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet project timelines and quality standards
Conducting routine safety checks and reporting any hazards or incidents
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Solar Roof Worker, roofer, or similar roofing and installation role
Sound knowledge of solar panel installation procedures and roofing techniques
Competency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively
Physical fitness and ability to work at heights in various weather conditions
Current White Card (General Construction Induction Card) or ability to obtain one
Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and a genuine commitment to safe working practices
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation manuals
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
Desirable: relevant certifications in electrical work, roofing qualifications, or previous experience with renewable energy projects
