Sous Chef – Yield Café
Yield Café is looking for a passionate and reliable Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team.
We are looking for someone who is confident in a busy café kitchen, has strong leadership skills, and can support the Head Chef and management team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
This role is suited to someone who takes pride in food quality, presentation, consistency, and wants to grow with the business.
About the role:
As Sous Chef, you will assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, supporting the team during service, helping with prep, ordering, stock control, food quality, and kitchen organisation.
You will also be involved in menu ideas, specials, and improving kitchen systems as Yield continues to grow.
There may also be an opportunity to be involved in our future dinner service, so experience or interest in dinner-style service will be highly regarded.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
- Help lead and motivate the kitchen team
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Assist with prep, service, ordering, and stock control
- Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation standards are met
- Contribute to menu ideas, specials, and future menu development
- Support the business as we continue to grow, including potential future dinner service
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in a busy café or restaurant kitchen
- Is confident with breakfast/brunch service
- Has strong communication and leadership skills
- Can work well under pressure
- Is organised, reliable, and professional
- Takes pride in cleanliness, consistency, and presentation
- Has an interest in menu development and new ideas
- Has dinner service experience or interest, which would be a bonus

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
