K&L Gates has an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team in Brisbane. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex and varied disputes, gain direct client exposure, and develop your career within a collaborative and high-performing team.
About the Role
The Brisbane Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice is led by Partner Harry Nicolaidis, who has more than 30 years' experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. The team represents public and private corporations across a range of industries, including construction, mining, energy, healthcare, property, retail, hospitality and financial services.
Working closely with the partner and the broader team, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of litigation and dispute advice work, including:
- Complex Commercial Contract Disputes – Acting for clients in a range of contractual disputes across a broad range of commercial sectors.
- Shareholder & Partnership Disputes – Advising on oppression claims, derivative actions, breaches of shareholder agreements and disputes arising from the breakdown of joint ventures and corporate partnerships.
- Injunctive & Emergency Relief – Drafting and responding to applications for urgent interim relief, including freezing orders, search orders and other equitable remedies.
- Regulatory & Investigations – Supporting clients facing regulatory investigations and enforcement action, advising on civil liability exposure arising from regulatory findings, and handling related civil claims.
- Real Estate Disputes – Acting in contentious matters arising from property transactions, landlord and tenant relationships and construction contracts.
- Negligence Actions – Representing clients in negligence claims.
In this role, you will assist in delivering strategic legal advice, managing disputes from inception through to resolution, drafting key documents, and appearing in courts and tribunals as appropriate. You will work directly with clients and have the opportunity to take ownership of matters while being supported by experienced practitioners.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 2 to 5 years' post-admission experience gained within a recognised commercial litigation practice
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to build strong client relationships and work effectively as part of a team
- A commercial mindset and keen attention to detail
- Initiative, sound judgment and a willingness to take ownership of matters
You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working in a high-performing environment and is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients. You are also eager to continue developing your litigation and advocacy skills and to contribute to the ongoing success of the practice.
