Phillip Stokes Racing Pty Ltd is a premier, dual-state thoroughbred racing operation led by championship-winning trainer Phillip Stokes. Dedicated to achieving excellence in equine performance, we utilise state-of-the-art facilities at both Morphettville (SA) and Pakenham (VIC) to offer our owners and horses the ultimate competitive advantage. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Horse Trainer to join our team in Morphettville.
Offered salary: $79,423 per annum (+ superannuation)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Follow an exercise training program laid out by the head horse trainer
· Training horses to obey commands and accept riders
· Walk, gallop and trot horses regularly, according to the training program
· Make reports on horses' progress and performance
· Monitor horses' health and temperament and report signs of injury and illness
· Assisting with daily horse care, including saddling up, washing down post-work, feeding and checking training gear for safety compliance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Hold a relevant qualification such as a Certificate III in Horse Care or Certificate IV in Racing
· 3 years of relevant work experience may substitute for qualifications
· At least 2 years of riding experience as a Horse Trainer, Trackwork Rider or Jockey
IDEAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
· Physically Fit
· Hold a Current Australian Drivers Licence and have own vehicle
· Ability to ride Timed Pacework and Gallops and Jump Outs
· Ability to ride and educate young horses
· Maintaining and caring for horses, including grooming and tacking up when required
· Must be available to work 6 mornings per week (Monday to Saturday)
· Passionate about horse riding and caring for horses
· Reliable, honest and loyal with excellent communication skills
