More than a teaching role, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with students to create original short films, develop practical screen acting skills and bring creative projects to life.
AT A GLANCE:
- $50+p/hr starting rate with more available for the experienced candidate.
- Classes around Sutherland Shire, especially Miranda and Engadine.
- Availability Friday 5pm-6pm Engadine for existing class ideal.
- Screen and lighting equipment provided.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Explore every aspect of the screen industry with weekly group classes and weekly one-on-one coaching sessions. In this role, you will:
- Coach authentic, naturalistic performances for on-camera scenes.
- Direct and film original short films and cinematic projects with students.
- Film professional showreel scenes.
- Prepare private students for auditions through mock castings, self tapes and cold reads.
- Share industry knowledge and guide private students through the realities of screen acting in Australia from agents and casting calls to networking and professional conduct.
- Teach on-set terminology, camera awareness, continuity and working with marks.
- Help students interpret scripts, break down character and make strong creative choices.
- Support students to achieve their goals, whether that’s to improve confidence, be excited by meaningful film projects or to pursue professional acting opportunities.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
- Has experience in screen acting, filmmaking and/or directing.
- Loves teaching and mentoring young people.
- Can confidently direct actors to achieve natural performances.
- Enjoys storytelling, filming and editing portfolio worthy projects.
- Has a WWCC, First Aid Certificate and drivers licence.
- Has public liability insurance (or willingness to obtain).
- BONUS: experience entering into film festivals or competitions and/or a desire to do so.
