As a Policy Officer (PO2) you will contribute to a range of projects, including developing and reviewing statutory instruments, strategies, plans, policies and guidelines that support koala conservation. You will be part of an agile team that supports priority policy and legislation projects for native wildlife, biodiversity, and environmental conservation and management.
The Koala Policy and Oversight team within the Environment and Conservation Policy and Legislation Branch contributes to the maintenance of biodiversity and the conservation of koalas, including by developing policy and strategies, and delivering projects and programs for koala conservation and koala habitat protection. This involves working with stakeholders and delivering actions contained withing the South East Queensland Koala Conservation Strategy.

This position requires: - Ability to effectively research and analyse issues and develop recommendations.- Ability to interpret legislation, policies and other statutory documents, particularly in relation to koala conservation and management.- Ability to meet deadlines, establish priorities and work as an effective member of a team.- Ability to clearly communicate ideas to a diverse audience, including the preparation of reports, briefing notes, presentations, and external correspondence.- Knowledge of contemporary approaches to the policy development, land use planning and koala conservation in a Queensland Government context, or the capacity to gain it quickly.- Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.
