Manager Rollingstock Maintenance – Bowen Hills
Lead the delivery of one of Queensland Rail's most critical rollingstock operations, ensuring a safe, reliable and available fleet for South East Queensland customers.
Queensland Rail is seeking an experienced and people-focused Manager Rollingstock Maintenance to oversee operations within the Electric Train Shed (ETS) at Mayne Depot.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Rollingstock Maintenance, this role is responsible for leading a large operational workforce and ensuring the ongoing safety, reliability and availability of Queensland Rail's passenger rollingstock fleet. You will play a key role in delivering operational excellence, driving workforce performance, managing business risks and ensuring sufficient rollingstock is available to meet daily service requirements.
About the role
As the Manager, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Electric Train Shed to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective maintenance of passenger rollingstock assets.
- Ensure sufficient rollingstock is available each day to meet timetabled service requirements.
- Drive asset performance through the application of best-practice asset management and quality management principles.
- Provide strategic leadership and operational planning to optimise workforce productivity, asset efficiency and business outcomes.
- Champion continuous improvement and workplace reform initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Develop, monitor and report on key performance indicators to support business objectives and continuous improvement.
- Ensure safety, environmental and operational risks are effectively managed in accordance with legislative and business requirements.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Rollingstock Maintenance business and lead the implementation of identified initiatives.
- Build an engaged, high-performing workforce through effective leadership, coaching and employee engagement programs.
- Manage critical operational interfaces with Mayne Yard Master, Train Control and Traincrewing Management teams.
- Oversee financial and budget responsibilities, ensuring operational and capital expenditure requirements are effectively managed.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience leading a large operational maintenance team responsible for fleet availability, reliability and performance.
- Proven success managing a sizeable, multi-disciplinary workforce in a safety-critical operational setting.
- Extensive knowledge of asset management and quality management principles, with a demonstrated ability to drive reliability and availability outcomes.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience in change management, stakeholder engagement, performance management, negotiation and relationship building.
- Well-developed commercial acumen, including experience managing budgets and financial performance within a large operational environment.
- Sound understanding of risk management principles, safety management systems and environmental compliance requirements.
- A commitment to creating a safe, collaborative and high-performing workplace culture.
