Team Lead Software Engineering
Job Description
The Team Lead plays a crucial role in supporting and driving our company's strategy by ensuring Technical Excellence and Hands On Delivery for the squad. Works with the technical leadership and stakeholders to define technical requirements, shape the platform roadmap, and drive value through reliable, reusable capabilities. Sets and continuously improves technical standards and delivery patterns for the crew. Ensures platform decisions are made with a product mindset - understanding the needs of internal product teams as customers and their end users as the ultimate beneficiary.
The Team Lead form a technical perspective will be backend focused and will have experience with data analytics at an enterprise level, up to millions of users. Provide end-to-end visibility across the platform's technical domains and facilitates collaboration among technical SMEs and consuming product teams. Evaluates technical feasibility and options, balancing platform capability needs against delivery effort. Identifies dependencies, technical risks, and mitigation options across shared services, and ensures technical health of platform assets and adherence to a technical debt budget.
What you’ll do
- Hands-on Delivery: Responsible for effort estimation, building, and testing squad solutions; leads by example in committing high-quality code to meet squad goals.
- Technical Guidance: Acts as the primary technical point of contact, supervising system modifications and ensuring the team's output aligns with established delivery patterns.
- Manage and unblock technical dependencies with other teams where required.
- Accountable to the System Health and Tech debt backlog for their respectively owned service.
- Improve engineering efficiency for their respective team.
- Technical Guidance: Acts as the primary technical point of contact, supervising system modifications and ensuring the team's output aligns with established delivery patterns.

Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical specialisation
- Experience leading a team of engineers and mentoring more junior engineers
- Strong expertise in C# / .NET 8 and ASP.NET Core for distributed, mission-critical backend services
- Experience designing software solutions for scale and high-traffic, customer-facing services
- Strong understanding of event-driven and asynchronous integration patterns (e.g. SNS/SQS, EventBridge) alongside synchronous (API) integration — pub/sub fan-out, idempotency, retry semantics, and dead-letter handling
- Experience designing and operating high-throughput notification, messaging, or data-pipeline systems (batch and event-driven)
- Experience working with one of the common Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, and familiarity with Cloud Design patterns
- Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD
- Familiar with relational data persistence (MySQL/Aurora, SQL Server) and caching / NoSQL stores (Redis, DynamoDB)
- Familiar with Functional and Object Oriented programming, TDD, BDD and Domain Driven Design
