What you'll be doing
The Social Worker will be based within the Mental Health Inpatient Units at Northern Beaches Hospital, providing services across the Adult Mental Health Unit, Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), and Psychogeriatric Unit. These services are committed to delivering recovery-oriented, person-centred, and innovative models of care that promote consumer and carer participation, collaborative decision-making, and social inclusion. Partnerships with consumers, families, carers, and external service providers are integral to the delivery of high-quality mental health care across the units.
Reporting to the Allied Health Manager, the Social Worker will work collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-informed social work services across the Mental Health Inpatient Units. The role is responsible for delivering comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, advocacy, care coordination, discharge planning, and support to consumers, their families, and carers in accordance with the professional standards and Code of Ethics of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), NSW Health policies, and relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks.
The Social Worker will contribute to the provision of safe, effective, and recovery-focused care for consumers admitted to the Adult Mental Health Unit, PECC, and Psychogeriatric Unit, while also supporting continuity of care with community-based mental health services. The position will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, service development activities, and multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance consumer outcomes and support excellence in mental health service delivery.
