About the Role
We are seeking a Fleet Controller to join our Landside Logistics team in Kenwick, WA. In this role, you will coordinate and oversee the movement of freight, ensuring transport operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements. You will also be responsible for allocating company and subcontractor vehicles, optimising fleet utilisation, and managing delays or disruptions to maintain service continuity.
We currently have a permanent full-time opportunity available on our afternoon shift, Monday to Friday, with typical hours of 10:00am to 6:00pm. Occasional weekend work may be required to support operational needs.
Key responsibilities:
Coordinate daily fleet movements, including job allocation, Wharf slot management, and ensuring timely and efficient deliveries and collections
Allocate jobs effectively by considering route optimisation, cost efficiency, delivery deadlines, and supporting daily preloading plans for upcoming shifts
Monitor empty container bookings, diversions, and transport activities to maintain smooth operational flow
Communicate effectively with drivers, customer service teams, customers, and subcontractors to resolve issues and ensure service expectations are met
Maintain compliance with company policies, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements, run sheets, NCRs, and relevant transport regulations
Manage driver performance and behaviour throughout shifts and provide additional operational support as reasonably required by the business
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
Container transport and wharf operations experience
Experience in transport operations, fleet coordination, dispatch and managing drivers and subcontractors
Understanding of heavy vehicle compliance requirements, including CoR, WAHVA and permit/access requirements (preferred)
Experience using transport management systems, FreightTracker, telematics, and GPS fleet systems
Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of fleet utilisation and transport costing
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
