Role: Intake and Triage Clinician - Mental Health and Counselling Services
Time fraction: Multiple roles - Part time or fulltime
Employment type: Max term to 30/6/2027
Salary: $38.65 - $41.45 per hour
Be the person who makes the difference from the very first conversation.
At Ballarat Community Health, we know that reaching out for support can be one of the hardest steps someone takes. That's why we're looking for a clinician who can create a positive, welcoming and supportive experience from the very first contact.
This role sits within our established Mental Health and Counselling team and plays a vital role in ensuring people receive the right support, at the right time, through our "no wrong door" approach to care.
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, compassionate and calm under pressure. Someone who enjoys talking with people, asking thoughtful questions, and helping them make sense of their next steps. You don't need to have all the answers, but you do need to be someone who can listen well, build trust quickly and confidently connect people with the right support.
Whether you're an early career clinician looking to build your assessment and intake skills or an experienced professional who enjoys helping people navigate services, you'll be supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
About the role
As an Intake and Triage Clinician you'll be the first point of contact for people seeking support. You'll take the time to listen, understand each person's unique circumstances, assess their needs, and help connect them with the most appropriate services and supports.
You'll undertake assessments, provide brief interventions, support service navigation, coordinate referrals, participate in multidisciplinary discussions and contribute to positive outcomes for individuals, families and carers.
What you'll bring
- Relevant qualifications and registration (where applicable) in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or a related discipline
- An interest in mental health intake, assessment, care coordination and service navigation
- The ability to engage respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Sound communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills
- A willingness to learn, seek guidance and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Experience in mental health, community services, intake, triage or care coordination will be highly regarded
- Knowledge of local mental health and community support services is advantageous
Why join us?
At Ballarat Community Health, you'll join a supportive and experienced team that genuinely cares about the people we support and each other. You'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively across a broad range of programs, contribute to meaningful outcomes in the community, and help ensure people receive the support they need when they need it most.
Our staff benefits include:
- Salary packaging – up to $15,900 for everyday living expenses and up to $2,650 meals and entertainment
- Excellent working conditions with a high sense of job satisfaction
- Flexible working arrangements
- Access to employee wellness programs and discounts
- Social club
If you're passionate about helping people feel heard, supported and connected to the right care, we'd love to hear from you.
